Web design
My philosophy is to design straightforward, fast loading, easy to navigate websites of up to 30 'lean and mean' pages that are excellent as a business tool to provide information and generate business enquiries. I avoid the gimmicks used on many websites that can put visitors off from venturing beyond the first page.

There's more to putting together a website than simply placing text and images. Considerations include visitor physiology, page layout, colours, navigation, ensuring compatibility across different computers and web browsers and ease of future updating. Search engine optimisation (SEO) and promotion
All websites I build are designed to be search engine friendly from the start. Search engine optimisation (SEO) and promotion is essential if a site is to be given a fighting chance of being ranked highly in the search engines - a higher ranking means more visitors and potentially more custom and profit. SEO and promotion can be carried out on an existing site too, of course.

I provide a number of website optimisation plans which are detailed on the search engine optimisation page. Basically, I check your site for any potential search engine barriers, identify which keywords and phrases associated with your business are likely to bring in the most visitors, build these into your site pages and coding, create a Site Map page and add site statistics to identify which engines are providing the visitors. Link building can also be added to the mix.

Digital imaging Services.

Imaging
Web images can greatly enhance a website by not only illustrating topics discussed in the text but can also help to break-up large chunks of text, making it less of a chore to read. A banner image is essential in giving your site, not to mention your company, an identity and photo's can be worth a thousand words to illustrate a company's products.

My imaging services include the creation of straightforward custom images such as logos, banners, buttons, simple animations and background images for page styling purposes. I can work from images you may already have too!

Image optimisation is the process of making an image suitable for putting on a website and can involve enhancing, colour correcting, cropping, sizing, sharpening, compressing and changing the file format. All this ensures a quick-to-load high quality image.

I can scan your photos, slides, transparencies and printed material to create digital images and optimise them for the web.

Other images can be created too, eg an image map, favicon icon.

Web photography
Photos on your site of the products and services you provide can make for very effective marketing, while pictures of your premises, office, staff and principal activities can be very welcoming for your website visitors. If you're a local business and have no suitable existing photos, I can take them for you.

Web management services.

Website management
This is the ongoing maintenance of your website which includes site updates, ongoing SEO, adding extras, fixing problems and supplying site statistical information. More details on the website management page.

Hosting and domain registration
I take care of the administration involved in purchasing your domain name and hosting space and supply you with the associated details. I can also sort out the technicalities of domain transfers and site uploading. Please see web hosting and domain name registration.

Website copy writing and sub editing
I can assist with writing and correcting website textual copy. From your thoughts and notes I can prepare an informative, objective, factual or even humorous site copy that will grab your site visitors (not literally!) and encourage them to engage in your site's aim.

PDF creation
If you wish to provide downloadable documents, the web standard format is PDF. Unlike web pages and Word documents, PDF documents cannot be altered, will maintain the layout as intended, can be secured to prevent text and image extraction and can be indexed on a search engine just like a web page. They're useful for distributing specialist information that's not of enough general interest or rather long to put on a web page, eg a lengthy report.

I can create downloadable PDFs for you either from your supplied content or from your own Word, Excel or Powerpoint files.

RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication)
RSS technology can deliver the very latest information directly to RSS news readers (aggregators). I can set up an RSS channel on your website and, once done, ongoing feed updates can quickly and easily be done by yourself (suitable software required).

Blogging
Weblogs have become extremely popular, I can source suitable blogging software, install and set it up on your website (requires PHP hosting).
